Discipline
Over the past five years, the Gloucester Centre Minor Hockey Association (GCMHA), as a member of the Gloucester Hockey Association, has adopted both the FAIR PLAY codes and the SHARED RESPECT principles to guide the development and implementation of its programs. In doing so, we've accepted the responsibility to ensure that all our players are provided with an opportunity to participate in programs that are safe, fun, and age appropriate with respect hockey development. A copy of the Fair Play codes has been made available (see link below). We strongly encourage that all members of our association review this document.
Consistent with this new responsibility, in 2004 the GCMHA established its first ever Discipline Guidelines for parents, coaches and players in an attempt to clarify the standards of behavior that is expected from those involved in the game. Specifically, the Discipline Guidelines outline the consequences that will be applied for behaviors that are deemed to be in violation of the Fair Play codes and Shared Respect principles.
The GCMHA executive feels very strongly that participation in hockey is a privilege, not a right and that the poor behaviors of a few must not detract from the enjoyment that the majority of its members expect and are entitled to from their participation in hockey.
If you have any questions with respect to any matters pertaining to discipline in the GCMHA, please contact:
